Library Facilities
Introduction
The Shillong Polytechnic Library comprises of various quantities of books keeping up with the needs of the students of different Engineering branches of the institute. The Institute took all possible steps and measures to help the student get all the books from the library except for some where there is shortage of supply. The student used the Library regularly for completing their assignments and preparing for the examination. The students of different Engineering branches are allowed to take as many as 8(eight) books i.e. 4(four) from the Library section where they must renew after every 14(fourteen) days and 4(four) from the Book Bank section where they can keep the book for the whole term or semester.

Existing and Proposed
Under the World Bank Assisted Project the Shillong Polytechnic Library has till now received up to around 1700 (One thousand seven hundred) books for different Engineering branches with a cost of around 7,85,000(Seven lakhs eighty-five thousand) approximately.

Facilities
Apart from Engineering books, the Shillong Polytechnic library has also some General books such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, etc. The Library also comprises books such as Reference books, Engineering Handbooks, Encyclopedia, Novels, Servicing Manual and Layout of different Electronics items, CD ROMs on National Geographic etc.

Medical Services
A full time pharmacist is present in the Institute. Medical Specialists and pharmacies are just a stones throw away from the Institute.

Learning Resources Utilization Center
The LRUC (Learning Resource Utilisation Centre) cell have just been set up at the ongoing period of the World Bank Project in order to cope up with the rapid advancement of Science and technology the centre is equipped with most of the modern facilities of which were installed to guide the students as well as the staffs in their work.

Hostel Facilities
The accommodation for the students is being fulfilled by the presence of the Hostels situated within the Institute Campus. The Hostel accommodation is available for both boys and girls separately.

Student Activities
The student union conducts various sports and games, social and cultural activities during the Institute week. Activities of the student union include action programmes and awareness generation work related to promotion and preservation of environment, health care, national integration. An awareness program on environmental development is conducted where student volunteers organize and monitor the cleaning and greening activity in the institute. They observe the institute week with various programme including group discussions, debates befitting the occasion. Field trips are also organized for students and industrial tours prove very befitting for the final year students. Entrepreneurship development programmes are conducted which can offer career guidance to the students. Mock interviews are also conducted where people from the industry are invited.
