The Electrical Engg Department was started in 1978 with two Lecturers and one senior instructor. The Department initially was looked after by Head Of Department, Civil. In 1987, H.O.D Electrical post was created and it became a separate department, under H.O.D electrical. Two more Lecturers were taken into the department in 1991. The Department at present has one well qualified H.O.D and four well qualified lecturers. In addition, there us also a senior instructor.

The pass-outs of this department are placed in various central and govt. departments and PSUs, like Doordarshan, All India Radio, BSNL and state govt department like PWD, PHE etc.

The Department is constantly modernising the infrastructure and laboratory facilities., It is endowed with well equipped laboratories in several areas .  The Technical and Supporting staff of the department are also involved in various Scheme under the World Bank Tech.Ed III Project and in modifying and implementation of  which technical trainings are given to various groups under the Continuing Education Programme with courses varying from Diploma Level of 3 yrs courses to short term Programmes of 3 months to 6 months .
